I had always seen those rock formations in the middle of the sugarcane fields when travelling in the southern part of the Island and thought they were the handiwork of workers clearing the land for cultivation. These close-up pictures, however, show a different dimension of those structures. If these are really pyramids erected for a purpose they required a lot of labour and a considerable amount of time. There should be archeological digs in the area to search for evidence of people having camped there a long time ago. I was born in Mauritius and moved to Canada in 1971.
